The author is the "Creator of the Universe", and he is just as flawed, human, and imperfect as every other character. Even the creator is not fully in control of himself, and thus is not fully in control of the universe that he writes into being.

This world is not unrealistic, though it is truly absurd. It is real. The issues in this world are the issues still pervasive in America today. Pollution, sex, war, vanity metrics. The creator of the universe is himself human, so he too is obsessed with certain metrics and measurements.
